What is the CIA Set of three? #
The CIA triad is an acronym for the 3 core principles used to guarantee information security: C onfidentiality, I ntegrity, and A vailability. Let’s explore each principle.
1 Privacy #
Confidentiality has to do with preventing sensitive information from falling into the incorrect hands. Similar to a letter that only the recipient can open, confidentiality ensures that data is only viewable by licensed users.
- Example: Logging into your email account with a password; your bank account being exclusive to you.
